്Sometimes .... it happens

“This will hardly take ten minutes”, assuring Namu I started CPU। I and Namu had decided to participate in a competition and we were in computer center for the online registration.

“If server is running properly”, Namu replied.

“After all it holds the record of being the largest technical contest. Sometimes network problems occur”, I said but this time my voice was a bit louder to attract the other students in computer center towards us. All this was to make them interested in our activity. We feel special if someone shows interest in our activities. So I felt like letting others know about our venture.

Five seconds passed. There was no response from computer screen but a ‘OOPS’ sound from the girl sitting beside us. Then came the Windows signature tune and her screen displayed message,” Saving your settings”. She looked at us surprisingly. Her surprised look suddenly transformed into an irritated one. Her look was like -”Fool didn’t you look at the CPU”? Perhaps we interrupted her pleasant chats or was she busy approving friend requests on facebook? Whatever was she busy with but definitely she was not pleased with us.

We quickly realised that the CPU of her computer was kept on our desk and our computer had no CPU। While I was turning my computer on actually I turned her system off. This realization embarrassed me deeply. How could I be so inattentive?

“No it was not my fault. Anybody could do this. Who kept this CPU here? Seriously, I didn’t mean to do this। You could have already told me about this.” All kind of excuses ran through my mind but only five letter word “Sorry” could come out of mouth. This might have relaxed her as she restarted her computer. As no other system was unoccupied we stepped out of Computer Center avoiding further embarrassments.
